How to maintain calm on a busy day

When the weather is this perfect it is SO hard to sit down at my desk and focus on work. I have found that a little stroll around the town green prior to diving into the days "To Do" list is just what I need to keep me even. My ideas may not necessarily work for you so I invite you to add your favorite tips in the comment section below.

I just went out for a fantastic walk all around town so I could soak in the new blossoms on the trees. It blows me away how gorgeous Spring is! You'll see a photo I quickly took with my phone at the Branford Library, this is the prettiest time with the trees all in bloom. Sorry about the quality of the photo but you get the idea.

The best part of my time outside is sitting down on the bench in middle of the green and taking it all in. Today was the best. I sat and watched THE cutest old couple, canes in one hand and holding hands with the other. They sat down at a bench across from me and had smiles from ear to ear as they watched a group of Day Care children walk by all talking at once. I wonder what they were thinking as they watched the kids go by.

There are times when turning on fast, fun music is necessary but when I need to keep the calm going, what I actually prefer is putting on a "spa" folder that I put in my Itunes library. I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes right now at the thought of George Winston keeping you motivated, but it works for me. After the music is all set, the next stop is the Keurig Pot for a cup of Green Tea, at least mid day (don't mess with my 3:00 coffee time!) Now when it's all calm and good, I can turn to my To Do list with more strength and tackle each item.

You may all think that you don't have any time in your day for any of this, but I dare you to find just twenty minutes and try it out. Let me know how it goes :)

Happy Easter to all my PEEPS!

Easter is a time to be with family, friends, and the beautiful outdoors. With the excitement of spring in the air, there is no where I would rather be than in my New England. I know I sound a little possessive but, I can't help it, I love it here! My little town of Branford, CT is a place where I feel so at peace. I love that I can walk down to the water and say a quiet thanks for all that I have and for all that lies ahead.

Easter brings me a feeling that resonates deep in my heart, of faith and hope. Faith that once again, all that was quiet and monochromatic throughout the winter will now spring up with color and energy. Not to sound too cheesy, but it never ceases to be a miracle for me! Everything is new, everything is fresh, the slate is wiped clean and new growth can begin again.

Easter is my time to remember those that I love and to say thank you!

Happy Easter everyone!

Since I didn't color eggs this year, I give you this find....

Sedona, AZ

Sedona, Arizona - there are not enough adjectives to describe this place. Magical, peaceful, spectacular and spiritual come to mind. There is a warmth you feel from inside, whether you are gazing at them, walking around them or sitting on them, the feel of the rocks stays with you. A perfect place to meditate and be thankful for all your blessings. From every angle the view is simply awe inspiring. If you haven't been to Sedona yet, put it on your must do list. It was so incredible, we stayed for two days, although I wish it were longer. Where is your favorite peaceful place?

Thank you Sedona!

Here are just a few of the photos I took of my new favorite place. Enjoy!

Santa Barbara & Carmel

I think I can now say that two of my favorite places on this trip have been Santa Barbara and Carmel. The textures, the colors, the architecture, the people, and the all around cool beauty of these two places had us coming back for more. We wound up in both places twice on our trip. I couldn't resist the landscapes I saw around Carmel and I would love to replicate it back home. Does anyone have any idea how I can get palm trees and cactus to grow in Branford? C'mon, help me out!

Check out the fog rolling in over the mountains in the back ground of Santa Barbara.

Ahhhhh the beach in Carmel.....I didn't want to leave.

the missions in both Santa Barbara and Carmel were simply amazing.

I loved this front yard area and I want to bring some of the flavor home with me. Any ideas how?

Universal Studios

A day to remember! Our good friend Ed took Elissa and I on the VIP tour of Universal Studios. We started in a huge sound stage where parts of Jurassic Park and several Indiana Jones films were made. The Prop warehouse seemed to house everything that was ever used in movies. Things that you would think weighed a ton were actually cut from styrofoam forms, making it easy to maneuver on sets. They were so realistic, that even up close, you couldn't tell the difference. We saw various sets from different movies that were still in tact like the Bates Motel from Psycho, Whoville, War of the Worlds, and more. The rides were incredible. Of course, I didn't go on them because someone had to photograph Elissa coming off them, like The Mummy - part roller coaster in the dark, backwards and forward!; Jurassic Park, a water ride where you are given a poncho to wear so you don't get too wet; The Simpsons, where you sit in an 8 seat car and watch things fly by (all Simpson related) while you are being jostled about. But, I did go to see Shrek in 4D, The Terminator in 3D and the stage where Backdraft was filmed - absolutely amazing.

Here are a few memories of our day.

Our main Ogre Shrek!

Our car had to wait for the seas to part so we could drive through.

Whoville!

The Bates Motel - this guy creeped me out but I was comforted with Whoville right behind the motel :)

We stood right in front of all the fire of Backdraft!

Part of the scene of War of the Worlds.
