Universal Studios
|
A day to remember! Our good friend Ed took Elissa and I on the VIP tour of Universal Studios. We started in a huge sound stage where parts of Jurassic Park and several Indiana Jones films were made. The Prop warehouse seemed to house everything that was ever used in movies. Things that you would think weighed a ton were actually cut from styrofoam forms, making it easy to maneuver on sets. They were so realistic, that even up close, you couldn't tell the difference. We saw various sets from different movies that were still in tact like the Bates Motel from Psycho, Whoville, War of the Worlds, and more. The rides were incredible. Of course, I didn't go on them because someone had to photograph Elissa coming off them, like The Mummy - part roller coaster in the dark, backwards and forward!; Jurassic Park, a water ride where you are given a poncho to wear so you don't get too wet; The Simpsons, where you sit in an 8 seat car and watch things fly by (all Simpson related) while you are being jostled about. But, I did go to see Shrek in 4D, The Terminator in 3D and the stage where Backdraft was filmed - absolutely amazing.
Here are a few memories of our day. |
| Our car had to wait for the seas to part so we could drive through. |
| The Bates Motel - this guy creeped me out but I was comforted with Whoville right behind the motel :) |
| We stood right in front of all the fire of Backdraft! |
