Just Play

I have really enjoyed reading Leo Babauta's Zenhabits.net everyday and have learned so much from his writings. The following advice he had in one of his posts sums up so many of the changes that I have made in my life. It has made my life 1000000% better and I wanted to share it with you. The photo that follows shows what I will be practicing on during this beautiful snowy day. Yes, that's my baritone ukelele that I have completely fallen in love with. Give me a few more years and I might bring it out in public :)

"less TV, more reading
less shopping, more outdoors
less clutter, more space
less rush, more slowness
less consuming, more creating
less junk, more real food
less busywork, more impact
less driving, more walking
less noise, more solitude
less focus on the future, more on the present
less work, more play
less worry, more smiles
breathe"

Hurricane, Frankenstorm, Perfect Storm, Mega Storm, Storm of the century.....Sandy!

Well, here we are again. Face to face with an obnoxious storm that is going to disrupt our lives for a few days, maybe a week, maybe more. I have faith that everyone will be fine and that this forced vacation from work, and "normal" daily life will actually bring us some much needed bonding time with our families, friends, and who ever else ends up on our door steps. We're heading back to the basics. No power, limited resources, and some good old fashioned family time. It's sad that a ginormous storm has to bring us to this point, but here it is. I hope everyone stays safe and that we are back, up and running, in no time. Looks like my Paleo way of eating may have some cave woman life style thrust upon it. Let's see how this goes.

Stay safe! :)

California here we come!!!

It's that time of year again when I head off to parts unknown (and known) and recharge my own personal batteries. As we did two years ago, my trusty side kick, Elissa, and I, are driving cross country again. Wheeeeee! I can't wait. It's kind of a Thelma and Louise thing but with a much happier ending! If you ever get a chance to make this trip, DO IT! There is so much to see. My favorites from the last trip were Santa Fe, Sedona, and Carmel. I'm sure there were others but those three stand out the most. We will definitely be visiting them again.

If you have any suggestions for us, please please let us know. Leave a comment here and we can see if we can go to any of those places. We're always up for an adventure.

I will absolutely have my camera so that you can all come along on the trip with me (vicariously). Be sure to friend me on Facebook or "like' my business page because I will most likely be putting more stuff on there than here. It's easier and quicker sometimes to do the Facebook thing.

I'll be checking in with you again so stay tuned....
