How to maintain calm on a busy day
|
When the weather is this perfect it is SO hard to sit down at my desk and focus on work. I have found that a little stroll around the town green prior to diving into the days "To Do" list is just what I need to keep me even. My ideas may not necessarily work for you so I invite you to add your favorite tips in the comment section below.
I just went out for a fantastic walk all around town so I could soak in the new blossoms on the trees. It blows me away how gorgeous Spring is! You'll see a photo I quickly took with my phone at the Branford Library, this is the prettiest time with the trees all in bloom. Sorry about the quality of the photo but you get the idea.
The best part of my time outside is sitting down on the bench in middle of the green and taking it all in. Today was the best. I sat and watched THE cutest old couple, canes in one hand and holding hands with the other. They sat down at a bench across from me and had smiles from ear to ear as they watched a group of Day Care children walk by all talking at once. I wonder what they were thinking as they watched the kids go by.
There are times when turning on fast, fun music is necessary but when I need to keep the calm going, what I actually prefer is putting on a "spa" folder that I put in my Itunes library. I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes right now at the thought of George Winston keeping you motivated, but it works for me. After the music is all set, the next stop is the Keurig Pot for a cup of Green Tea, at least mid day (don't mess with my 3:00 coffee time!) Now when it's all calm and good, I can turn to my To Do list with more strength and tackle each item.
You may all think that you don't have any time in your day for any of this, but I dare you to find just twenty minutes and try it out. Let me know how it goes :)
